The London Marathon...The Race for Awesomeness

After my first 8hr+ sleep in weeks I'm sat here with my running gear on, watching in awe as Londoners and folk from the World over cheer the runners on for the 2011 London Marathon.

36,500 Runners...26.2 miles...Hundreds of Thousands of Spectators...and 1 Man running the whole way Backwards!!

2011 London Marathon - Amazing scenes
It's fair to say that I'm in complete awe of every one of them; the pain barriers they'll each have to break will be well worth it for the millions in funds that they'll raise for good causes.

Over 100 marathon world records are being attempted, amongst them is the Fastest Marathon Run Backwards - good luck to the crazy trainee PE teacher that is Karl Twomey!

Mary Keitany won the Elite Ladies race in a unofficial time of 2hrs 19mins 17secs and fellow Kenyan Emmanuel Mutai won the Elite Men's event in a course record of time of 2hr 4mins 38secs - both of them now becoming the 4th Fastest Marathon Runners (in their categories) Of ALL Time!

Britain's David Weir became the most successful Wheelchair London Marathon Racer of ALL Time with his win in this years London Marathon - Great Job!!

As the fun runners continue making their way to the famous finish line dressed as all sorts of characters and even Prince William and Kate Middleton it's clear that this is ultimately The Race for Awesomeness.
